7 Foods You Should Never Let Your Kids Eat

5. Processed Meat

One type of processed meat that is often packaged as “kid-friendly” is a hot dog. Kids may love to eat them, but they will pay the price for it later. Processed meats like hot dogs, sausages, pepperoni, ham, deli meat, etc. are loaded with preservatives, unhealthy fat, and an inexcusable amount of salt.

Did you know nitrates have been linked to cancer (yes, even the organic kind!).

Furthermore, these types of processed meats are often served on some type of refined white flour product, which we’ve already mentioned the harms of.

4. Fried Finger Food

Including the likes of chicken nuggets, fish sticks, mozzarella sticks, etc. – flash fried finger foods can be like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Fried food isn’t always bad – when made at home with good quality ingredients, you should be able to enjoy them occasionally. But for most of us, such foods always come out of a frozen packet or a fast food chain.

In these cases, they are made with whole loads of low-quality ingredients, which then require whole loads of preservatives and artificial flavoring to make them taste good. For instance, a chicken nugget can contain more than 20 ingredients – most of which are not chicken, or even natural! They are them coated with a breading of refined flour, fried in hydrogenated oils full of trans fat, and served with a side of sugar-and-preservatives rich sauce!

3. Boxed Mac ‘n’ Cheese

This is one of anybody’s favorite childhood meals, but was the risk worth the result? Boxed mac ‘n’ cheese has pasta that’s made of white refined flour and cheese that’s not really cheese. It’s filled with sodium, preservatives, and even certain non-food additives. None of these provide any nutrition to your child.

Another particularly scary aspect of boxed mac ‘n’ cheese is a byproduct of the manufacturing process call phthalates. This is a substance that is banned from being used for baby toys as it has been linked to learning and behavioral problems in children.
