Fascinating Plants and Flowers That are Weird and Amazing

Nature is beautiful and amazing, complex and so, so, amazing. Even something we usually deem small and insignificant is something amazing. How does it all work so immaculately? Some might say it’s all God’s work, and some might say that it’s just science; whatever it is, all I know is it’s incredible!
Here are some of the more uncommon species of plants and flowers from around the world that are pretty bizarre and cool. Check them out!

White Baneberry

Native to the forests of North America, this plant is also known as ‘doll’s eye’ after the fruits that grow on red stems that bear a striking similarity to eyeballs. If you’re ever lost in the forest without food and come across them, don’t be tempted to eat them because the fruits are poisonous!

The Venus Fly Trap

Acting as nature’s own fly trap, this plant is carnivorous! And what’s more, is that it’s not the only one out there, even though it may be the most famous one.

Baobab

This tree is also known as the bottle tree, named so because it looks like one. Consisting of eight types of trees, they usually grow in Africa, Madagascar, and Australia. They live to be about 500 years old, and can store more than 300 liters of water in each of them!

Rafflesia Arnoldii

This is the largest flower in the world, spanning 3 feet wide and weighing 15-24 pounds, rust-colored with tiny speckles all over. It is quite rare to find one, and you probably wouldn’t mind if you didn’t, because the smell it gives out is supposedly like a rotting corpse!

Bear’s-Head Tooth Mushroom

This is a species of mushroom that is actually edible! Not only that, it can also help fight cancer, gets rid of roundworms and stimulates nerve growth. But it also looks like a giant fluffy mop, and kind of cute, don’t you think?

Mimosa Púdica

The Mimosa Pudica is also known as the ‘shy plant’, due to it’s peculiar nature. It might seem like a normal plant growing among the grass, but the minute something touches it, the leaves fold into themselves, only to open a few minutes later.

Witches’ Butter

Witch’s Butter, also known as ‘yellow brain’ or ‘golden jelly’ is a type of fungus that grows on fallen or dead trees. This is another one for the cookbooks, as it is edible, and is being found to have health benefits, but you might find it’s quite tasteless!

Victoria Amazonica

These a massive water lilies that can only be seen in full bloom at night. They spreading across 3 meters, and are able to support a weight of about 40-50 kg when they are in full bloom! Their edges are turned up and are thorny underneath to protect from being eaten.
