Strangest Laws From Around The World That You Won’t Believe Exist Even Today!

Governments, ‘amiright?

Most of us consider our governments to be the worst. But you probably share this idea with someone that lives halfway around the world from you! Even in those rare countries where the government is actually trying to do good for its citizens, it seems to fall short somewhere, somehow.

That’s why we need to learn to see the funny side of it. It may not be funny to you if you actually live there, but hearing about another country’s bizarre laws certainly gives you comfort in knowing its not just yours that messed up.

Here are some of the strangest laws from around the world, and yes, they are still in place even today in 2018!

1. Canada

Canadians are known to be kind and courteous, which is probably where the idea for this misguided law came from. In the city of Petrolia in Ontario, citizens aren’t allowed to make “excessive noise”. This includes anything from shouting or yelling, to whistling or singing.

2. Western Australia

In Western Australia, it is illegal to have more than 50 kg (110 lb) of potatoes in your possession at any one time. This law was apparently made in an attempt to limit imports. The Potato Marketing Corporation in Australia even has the right to stop and search your car to ensure you’re not smuggling spuds!
