Strangest Laws From Around The World That You Won’t Believe Exist Even Today!
12. Cambodia
The import, sale, and use of water guns has been banned in Cambodia since a law was passed in 2001 by Phnom Penh governor Chea Sophara. The law was introduced to a fear of social unrest during the Khmer New Year celebrations.
13. New York
This might be a little hard to believe if you’ve ever been to New York, but it’s actually illegal to honk your horn except under emergencies. It even carries a $350 fine! This is no doubt an attempt to reduce noise pollution, but we aren’t sure the NYC’s taxi drivers actually care about either the law or the noise!
14. Singapore
Chewing gum is illegal in Singapore (except medical or nicotine gum, which requires ID to obtain). The country takes littering very seriously, and doles out pretty hefty fines and even public service (cleaning a public area for an entire day wearing a sign that says “I’m a litterer”) for this offense. But, we aren’t exactly sure why they came to the conclusion that chewing gum is the only way a person can litter.
15. South Australia
The line about “speaking now or forever holding your peace” during weddings must be left entirely out of a wedding procession in South Australia, because disrupting a wedding (or funeral) can earn you a whopping fine of $10,000 or even two years jail time!
